Hello, honey bunnies!!!! Welcome back for week 7 of Kimber’s ABC Challenge, and the gawjuss letter “G”!
I caution you to hold onto your hat, cause we’ve got a whole lot of tonsil-shots coming up…
How’s the weather by you? Have you had your fill of winter? Well, only two weeks after I sang the beauty of my snow-capped trees, I’m in a different place; a place called Seriously Sick and Tired of Snow.
It’s no wonder I’m driven to the colors of fresh cut grass and the crocuses of spring.
Well, this being a nail challenge, I grab ideas wherever I can, so I began by pulling out every green and blue swatch stick on hand.
Then I fashioned a palette of colors that would bring this “G” mani to life.
Here’s how it went down…
MY “G”-TEAM: from L-R: butterLONDON Bossy Boots, a pale pistachio GREEN creme; L’Oreal Now You Sea Me, a turquoise creme; GIRLY Bits Smurf Dance, that crazy-fun indy festival of white, blue and silver holographic and matte GLITTERS, all happily suspended in a pale aqua jelly; Sinful Colors Open Seas, a pale GREEN sea GLASS creme; and once again, Nubar Vogue Vert, a dusty pastel spring GREEN.
A little ANAL RETENTIVE? Mmm hmm.
Top to Bottom: Nubar Vogue Vert (thumb – tricky application, this 3-coater kept “lifting” up the painted layer beneath), Sinful Colors Open Seas (index finger – opaque at two coats), Girly Bits Smurf Dance atop butter LONDON Bossy Boots (middle finger – one quick swipe spread the glitter out evenly); L’Oreal Now You Sea Me, striped over butterLONDON Bossy Boots (ring finger – two coats to opacity); and Nubar Vogue Vert (pinkie – tricky polish “lift”).
I was really liking this mani alot, when out of nowhere, I got to thinking, “What if?”
(Seriously…when WAS the last time I left Perfectly Well Enough alone? I don’t rightly recall…)
So, I pulled out out those teensy weensy metallic beads I recently scored (super cheap) from the good folks at Born Pretty (need a coupon? see the sidebar for 10% off and free shipping).
Shiny. Blingy. Right Up My Mani Alley.
I quickly planned out a basic pattern for the placement of beads on my index finger, the routine being thus: Dip a toothpick into a bottle of top coat; dab that toothpick right where you want the bead to go; then lick (Mother Nature’s glue) the tip of another fresh toothpick, and lift up a bead for quick placement.
Once all the beads are positioned (or as in my case, after one forgets to position the final row), it’s time to lay on a coat of GELOUS (we’re really plugging the “G’s” today, folks), and then follow that up with a layer of favorite top coat.
Now, looky here….
All sparkly, GOLD, and another “G” connection.
Well, darlings…that’s it for this week’s contribution to Kimber’s ABC Challenge.
Until next time, I hope you’ll join me in seeing what my glorious co-challengers have up their sleeves for this very G’ful challenge…
