I’d been working on an upcoming post that compares Color Club’s 2013 Halo Hues nail polish collection with its 2012 predecessor, when it hit me: Why not incorporate some of those current holographic polishes into this week’s ABC Challenge, celebrating the letter “H”?
In the end, I used five of the six newly released colors, and jazzed up my effort with a Dashica stamping plate that arrived with the day’s mail (just as my haloed tips were drying).
Clearly this was mean to be….
L to R – a hand of holographic Skittles: peachy-toned Cosmic Fate, mossy gold Kismet, sky blue Over the Moon, strawberry-pink Miss Bliss, and the ever-amazing Eternal Beauty on my stamped-up thumb.
FYI: These shots were taken indoors on a cold and dreary late-February New York day. Without exposure to the bright overhead sun, I’m afraid these linear holographics – though lovely – never quite reached the pinnacle of their spectacular effects. But fear not…my next post on these polishes is coming up soon, and that’s when we’ll see the difference a harnessed ball of solar fire makes.
In the meantime, here’s more “H” nail porn…
Color Club’s Halo Hues – that’s the 2012 as well as the 2013 collection – are noted for their splendid formula, coverage, and application. This is two coats. No top coat.
Smooth as glass, I tell you.
Have I mentioned that I’m a goner for accent nails? Goodness, I love ’em to pieces. One of my fave ways of accenting said nails? Stamping! Oh, yeah!
And that Dashica stamp, I’m using? It’s one of the HUGE Celtic-leaning ornate images on plate# SdP-U.
Here’s something you’ve got to know about Dashica’s nail plates: These engravings are larger and deeper than their Konad and Bundle Monster counterparts. That difference makes for an ultra crisp and clean image that extends over any and all parts of the nail you want covered.
Mmm hmm. That means no more naked patches where your smaller image never quite reached.
The upshot? Dashica makes me want to stamp everything in sight! By the way, I used Konads Black stamping polish for these image transfers.
Here’s another cool thing….
Because each engraving is soooo large, I was able to achieve five different looks using ONE stamped image.
Bottom line: If you’re a fan of quick and easy nail art…do yourself a favor, and get some Dashica nail image plates. You’ll thank me.
Well, darlings…that’s all she wrote for this 8th letter day of Kimber’s ABC Challenge. Be sure to come back next time for that comprehensive Halo Hues review of the entire collection (2013 v. 2012) that I’m promising. Oh yeah, that review will be complete with sun-lit pix, fireworks, exotic male dancers, and acrobatic cats. Well, maybe not the fireworks, dancers and cats.
Until then, please join me in checking out the goings-on with my heavenly challenge sistahs.
