"M" is for Nicole by OPI’s Mer-Maid for Each Other (with Chaos & Crocodiles’ Pass The Sprinkles!)

It’s time again for another installment of the ABC Challenge, and this week, we find ourselves rummaging through boxes of pretty polishes for lacquers that somehow or some way connect to the letter “M”.   Gotta tell ya,  I’m finding it hard to believe that we’re already up to week 13, and practically halfway through this challenge!  It’s been such a hoot!

Well, hello-hello-hello!  You’re just in time!  Today, I’ve a pretty little finger paint to show you…

Nicole by OPI’s Mer-Maid for Each Other, is a gorgeous lime green metallic duochrome, that was released in Fall 2012 as part of the brand’s exclusive collection with Target.  It’s the only polish from that collection that was still standing on the shelf when I reached the store, only hours after the bottles had been put on display.  FUN FACTOID:  It’s no secret that we lacquer lovers descend like locusts when new color comes to town.

In a nut:  I considered myself mighty fortunate to have nabbed this pretty.

Still, it should come as no surprise to our regular readers (who know of my short-term lacquer memory issues), that when I returned home,  I dropped Mer-Maid into a polish drawer and promptly forgot all about it.  Until preparing for this post, that is.

On its first coat, Mer-Maid applied sheer.  So sheer, that I was convinced this was going to be a many-many-multi-coater.  Call me positively stunned when I saw that a second layer of lacquer did the opacity trick.  How on earth did THAT happen?

But the best part?

Oh, honey…the best part came when I began walking around, and the light started hitting my fingertips at various angles.  That’s when our mild-mannered green metallic began leaping buildings at a single bound (not really), and flashing Caribbean blue (really) and gold (really)!  We’re talking a laser light show on the hands!  I tell you:  This is an amazing polish for the easily entertained.

Polish in bottle?  Green.

Polish on fingertips?  Well, at this angle, it’s flashing blue.

Duochromes make me unreasonably happy.  And I’m OK with that.

But, as you may already know….I have this little problem, leaving well enough alone.

The glitter called to me. Again. It began singing its siren song and I was powerless to resist. To quell that call, I reached for Pass the Sprinkles, that handcrafted glitter polish Liz and I commissioned as a "first birthday" polish, from the brilliant (kind, patient, and professional are three other apt descriptives) Sarey Booth-Neades of Chaos & Crocodiles.

Oh.  My.  Goodness.

Oh, I tell you, this here gal is positively in LOVE…

Those colorful pops of opaque, metallic, and holographic circles? Well, they make me absolutely swoon! In the course of the last week, I've worn Pass the Sprinkles over a variety of shades and formulas, and the coolest thing I've discovered is this: It looks completely unique on each and every manicure.

Oh Lisa, you made me laugh so hard when talking locusts! I do feel the same when new Catrice and Essence displays are out! When I find the displays completely empty I always yell at “those locusts”! And my boyfriend gently reminds me that I am one of them, if I happen to get there first. Uhm, yeah.
Anyway… duochromesssss!!!!!!!! I love duochromes, multichromes, shifting beauties of any kind! That NOPI looks great!!

“It’s no secret that we lacquer lovers descend like locusts when new color comes to town.”
The sacred truth!!! A recent example: yesterday I received an email from Harlow&Co. Enchanted Polish were again in stock! Well, when I opened their website, five or six hours after they sent the email, eight polishes were already sold out and only two shades were still available. 😀

    • April 8, 2013 at 3:03 am

LOL. Cristina, you nailed it! Is there anything more frustrating than sales at Harlow&Co. and Llarowe? OMG. Those virtual shelves are bought clean in SECONDS. Unbelievable. LOL.

That glitter really makes this something special! This is beautiful.

      Thanks so much! :)

Such a great combo Lisa!! I know that it’s hard around here, in my little podunk town, to find new collections so it must be even harder up where you are! I never got around to getting any of these, but I am sure glad to see you sporting this so beautifully!

    • April 8, 2013 at 3:04 am

Hey, Gini! Thanks for the sweet comment! :)

  15. April 9, 2013 at 12:37 am

The glitter is such a nice addition to the duo green/blue! I cannot leave my nails alone lately either, 2 coats of a plain polish is just enough!

  16. April 11, 2013 at 8:56 am

Gorgeous polish and I’m LOVING the glitter! I’m sad about the fact that Chaos & Crocodiles don’t ship international :( Though with my crazy polish shopping habits I think it’s better if I can’t have everything I want LOL
