Happy Friday, everyone! I’ve got some sweet polish to show you today, as well as a neat giveaway!!
First the polish…
The OPI Couture de Minnie Collection had zero appeal for me when it first appeared on store shelves. Probably because of the Disney connection. With our youngest son finishing up his undergrad, Disney’s been off the family radar for a long time.
|Meet OPI Magazine Cover Mouse, a strawberry-red Liquid Sand polish|
It was a couple of months later, when I actually looked at my retailer’s swatch wheel, and came face-to-polish with Magazine Cover Mouse (MCM), a glorious gritty red number (that sparkles like CRAZY with teensy bits of gold glitter), I was mesmerized and became Zombie Polish Woman. You know what I’m talking about, right?
Well, lots of newly acquired polish later (including a mini set for giveaway!), I left the store thinner and more attractive.
Remember, girls…only nail polish can do that for you!
|“Paging Dr. Derek Shepherd, wonky mani needs emergency file job. Stat.”|
The filing. I know. It’s like I’m channeling the manicures of five different people here!?!
An Aside: You know, photography is sometimes like your spouse/boyfriend’s vindictive crazy-nutcase jealous lunatic former girlfriend, in that the lens seems to take bizarre pleasure in highlighting your flaws. Look at those uneven nails! This is not to say I’ve any personal experience with crazy vindictive people. But I am well-read. And TV’d. And maybe once I got a little mad at a guy I was seeing.
But back to the mani….
I accented my ring finger with two coats of Chic From Ears to Tail, the bubblegum-pink member of this collection. There’s nothing like it in my stash, because I ordinarily don’t go for bubblegum-pink. Guess what? I love this pink. In combination with that poppin’ strawberry red…it’s a killer!
I love bling, too, which is why I jazzed up that accent finger, with Minnie Style, the collection’s pink, red and white clear-based glitter-bomb. Oh, my…this IS a lovely topper! It’s so easily layered (frequently not the case with glitters). I applied two thin coats and and then a light top coat on that accent nail. No top coat needed for the textured nails.
I’m loving the Liquid Sand/Pixie Dust/textured polish trend, but I’m partial to those of this kind that sport a little sparkle. The fully matte textured polishes remind me of cement, which does nothing for me. The textured polish in this collection satisfies my sparkle needs.
These polishes ran me $9.00 each at the local beauty supply. Fabulous formulas, all, as one would expect from OPI.
AMAZING BUT TRUE FACTOID: The Minnie Style glitterbomb is the only polish from the collection that’s not represented in their cute little box of “Runway Minnies“. Since I wasn’t about to part with mine (I covet the stuff), I went back for an extra “giveaway” bottle!
Which brings me to this….
