MISH MASH CHALLENGE: Purple, Stamped Paisley

The Mish Mash Challenge (MMC) is a weekly nail polish event, hosted by Kimber’s Lacquer Korner.  The challenge calendar and glittery badge have been put together by Liz from Mani Maniac, and can be found here.   This challenge features a hodgepodge of weekly themes that the group pulled from a virtual hat.  If you’d like to join us, “add” your link, where indicated at the base of this post.    DISCLAIMER:  Please note that any spamming of irrelevant content will find the spammer banned from the challenge.  Ouch. Now, having dispensed with the warm and fuzzy welcome, let’s move on to this week’s inspiration:  Purple.

Lisa writes…

For my Mish Mash mani, I employed some two-toned styling, with flip-flopped stamping.  Check it out…

There aren’t many purples in my stash, but the ones I have?  They’re dearly cherished.  Today’s selection was a no-brainer …

I grabbed two favorites:  No More Film, a deep purple Essie creme, for three thin coats on my index, middle and pinky fingers; and then accented the thumb and ring fingers with two easy coats of Eternal Beauty, a remarkable purple-leaning linear holographic from the Halo Hues-2013 Collection (Color Club).  If you don’t know about Halo Hues, click here and here.  I also grabbed a huge 2.5 ounce bottle of HK Girl Top Coat (this stuff is so good, that it deserves – and at some point will receive – its very own LOZLOSA post)

L to R:  No More Film (Essie), HK Girl Top Coat, and Eternal Beauty (Color Club)

Once the base colors were bone-dry (about five minutes), it was time to stamp up some pretty images.

For that job, I looked to Shirley Dashica‘s lovely stamping plate designs, and selected a floral paisley impression from plate #Big SdP-N.

The two-tone mani theme was continued by stamping No More Film onto Eternal Beauty, and vice versa.

To seal the delicate stamping, I gently pressed down on each impression, and then painted a layer of HK Girl Top Coat right over each nail.  One of the nice things about this product is that stamped images don’t “bleed” when it’s applied over them.

To the left is a tonsil shot of No More Film, stamped onto Eternal Beauty.  I just love all the holo action going on with Eternal Beauty.  Isn’t it a magnificent polish?  Here’s hoping that our friends at Color Club continue this line into the future, with lots more polishes.

And, here’s a final shot…

Thanks much for dropping by.  If you haven’t already, I invite you to enter our OPI Couture di Minnie Giveaway.  Thing ends this Friday.  In the meantime, I’m off to check in on my challenger buds, to see what they’ve got going for their first Mish Mash.  Hope you’ll join me!I

What a lovely manicure! The final effect is beautiful and soooo elegant! Your stamping skills are excellent, I wish I could be as good as you with stamping… My long nails don’t help, stamping designs are too small for them. 🙁

Thanks, M! Stamping is such fun. Especially when you’ve got a good stamper. That’s the secret! 😉

  25. August 4, 2013 at 4:31 am

Thanks much, Raquel. I still see those holos in the beauty supply stores. Check around. I bet you’ll spot some.

Thanks, Amy! 🙂 (holos ARE super for stamping…I wholeheartedly agree)

  28. August 4, 2013 at 4:34 am

Cristina, one of the neat things that can be done with longer nails is layering stamped images. Either using a bunch of smaller ones, or just stamping over previously applied images. Makes for unique nail art! Thanks for your kind comment, sweetie! 🙂

  29. August 4, 2013 at 4:36 am

LOLOL! On my way, Amber…glass file and Margarita in hands.

Maybe we can swap! You do my makeup and I do your nails?

Thanks for your kind comment! <3

  30. August 4, 2013 at 4:43 am

Yes, I do love you, Dionne! <3 LOL.

Next time I’m down in your neck of the woods, it’s Polish Playtime All the Way. With a cocktail, preferably. Because when on vacay, I roll like that. 😉

    Thanks, sweetie. 🙂

  31. August 4, 2013 at 4:46 am

Thanks on all score, sweet Natalie. Stamping take patience, but once you “get” the technique, it’s ridiculously simple. Now, if only I could learn how to water marble. LOL.

  32. August 4, 2013 at 4:47 am

    Thank you, much! 🙂

  33. August 4, 2013 at 4:47 am
